Meet Aimee

Hello, I’m Aimee. This is Oakley.

I’m the founder and trainer behind Oak & Bramble. I’m trained in canine first aid and dog behaviour, and I’ve worked across dog walking, daycare, training and managing groups of dogs.

My own dogs are where it all started. Oakley taught me to look deeper than teaching behaviours, and to appreciate just how individual every dog really is.

Founder & Dog Trainer

Aimee

My training journey properly began in 2023, and I’ve been learning my craft ever since through courses, mentorships, seminars and hands-on experience. I’m trained in canine first aid and dog behaviour, and I’ve worked across dog walking, daycare, training and managing groups of dogs.

But my own dogs are really where it all started. Molly, my Staffordshire Bull Terrier and absolute soul dog, gave me my love for dogs. Then came Oakley, who very quickly made me realise I had a lot more to learn.

Working through resource guarding, recall, over-friendliness and other challenges with Oakley pushed me to look deeper than simply teaching behaviours. He taught me to question why a dog is doing something, get creative when the obvious approach isn’t working and appreciate just how individual every dog really is.

That’s a huge part of what Oak & Bramble has grown from. I genuinely love learning about dogs, finding different ways to help them and giving owners practical training that actually fits into their life.

And I still don’t think I’ll ever be finished learning.

The “Oak” behind Oak & Bramble

Oakley

Oakley is my working-line Golden Retriever, adventure buddy and probably the dog who’s taught me the most.

He’s confident, ridiculously social, full of personality and happiest when he’s exploring somewhere new or charging through the woods. He loves other dogs and people and has never been particularly interested in doing anything calmly.

Oakley hasn’t always been easy. We’ve worked through resource guarding, over-excitement around dogs, recall, lead walking and learning that he doesn’t actually need to say hello to everyone he sees.

He’s a massive reason I became so interested in understanding the whole dog rather than just focusing on obedience.

He’s also why adventure, freedom, fulfilment and letting dogs actually be dogs are such an important part of Oak & Bramble.

What matters to us

Helping you build a life to enjoy together.

We don’t believe the goal of dog training is simply having a dog that follows commands.

It’s being able to enjoy your dog.

It’s having the skills to give them more freedom, understanding what they need, being able to take them on adventures and feeling confident navigating everyday life together.

Every dog brings something different. Their breed, personality, genetics, experiences and the things they naturally love doing all matter. Training should take those things into account rather than trying to fit every dog into the same box.

We also believe fulfilment is just as important as training. Sniffing, exploring, chasing, retrieving, playing, working, resting and experiencing the world all have a place.

We want to help owners understand their dogs better, build useful real-world skills and create a relationship where both ends of the lead get something from it.

Because their world matters too.
